ITV Adventure's Guide to Britain

"Coming soon this autumn to ITV and itvWILD.com........Gethin Jones and Charlotte Uhlenbroek abandon Britain's well-trodden tourist trail in search of places only those with the true spirit of adventure can experience - the most inaccessible, unexplored and unknown sights, sounds and heritage of the UK".

In August 2011 I was contacted by a couple of producers from ITV. Within two hours we were in my garden enjoying the evening sunshine, drinking lemon tea. They asked if I knew any locations on the Yorkshire Coast where we could film some landscape photography, the only proviso was that the location had to be remote with a wild feel to it, and well off the beaten track.

I had just finished the images for my book "Secret's of the Dinosaur Coast" and I had developed a love affair with Boulby Cliffs. The producers, Melanie and Frazer, were immediately excited by the sound of Boulby, by the photos in the book, and when I mentioned the rope descent down the cliffs, the decision was made. Four days later, on a hot and sunny blue sky day, we were filming.

My choice of location turned out to be perfect. Very photogenic, reasonable access for the TV crew, and great camera angles right on the cliff edge, as Gethin and I discussed landscape photography and my connection with these places. The rope descent, whilst quite modest in reality, made for good television. Essentially we made a short film of my landscape photography workshops.

A very enjoyable, if tiring, day of filming ~ made memorable by the weather, and the fun and easy company of Gethin, the producers  and the crew.

The program aired in November 2011.
