Landscape photography workshops
Most clients are keen on the outdoors and keen on photography but are frustrated that their images aren't as nice as they would like. For these clients the right kind of help, delivered in the right way can go a long way. Equally, I have run workshops with clients who have been pretty expert themselves and who just like to go out and make images and talk about landscape photography. The workshops have a maximum of two clients, and they are tailored to meet the precise needs of the clients. The emphasis will be very much on exploring elements in the landscape, looking and then seeing, the principles involved in making a strong image, and most of all, ideas on composition.
I have twenty years of teaching experience, and I am a strong believer in the inner game methods of teaching landscape photography. You will receive high quality feedback about your images on location in order that you can progress. From my base in North Yorkshire we are blessed with some fantastic locations for every season, any time of day, (and most weather). Whether it is the coast, the North Yorkshire Moors National Park or Yorkshire's great forest, Dalby forest, there will be a great location not too far away.
Workshops will be half day or one day duration and start and finish times can be flexible.
If you are travelling from some distance, there is a range of local accommodation I am happy to recommend, and I am happy to run workshops over a number of days at a variety of locations.
Please contact me for available dates, prices and further details.
"Although I was a bit apprehensive at first by the time we got down to the rocks I had relaxed. I don't think I am as receptive to my surroundings as I need to be in order to achieve the images I would like. You made me aware of how important this is and I will try to approach my landscape work in this way" JLS
Current clients also include Shropshire County Council.
Panorama Masterclass
I have had numerous requests from keen photographers about making the move into panoramic film photography, and on the strength of this I now offer a panoramic photography masterclass.
If you are interested in moving into medium or large format but not sure which format exactly, or if you have just purchased a 617, or you wish to get more from your XPan, or if you feel that 35mm or DSLR just isn't a big enough canvas for you, a panoramic masterclass using the Fotoman 617 will definitely help you.
The emphasis will be very much on composing for this unusual and challenging format. We will work on making images that include the main principles of a strong image (see photography workshops above) and also embrace the ideas of clean edges and three points of interest, images that read well left to right and right to left, images that have a strong foreground, and most importantly images that have a strong sense of balance. Again high quality feedback will be provided on location.
Please contact me for full details of this masterclass.
